CPE Co-op Education Experience
Co-op can provide tremendous opportunities for students who wish to take a one or two quarter break in their academic studies to gain valuable experience in their field of study. If you are interested in a Co-op opportunity, you can learn about the companies these positions through Career Services (location listed below).

- Co-op assignments are a MAXIMUM of two (2) quarters only.
CPE does not allow Co-op units to be applied directly as technical elective credit. (COOP units must be converted to CPE 400 units and you can only receive 4 units maximum of CPE 400.)
Before you Sign Up for Co-op...
Determine if you are eligible to sign up for a Co-op | If you’re not eligible, you will need to wait until you become eligible. You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:
- You have at least sophomore standing or have successfully completed three (3) quarters at Cal Poly.
- You have identified a company with a Co-op assignment you’d like to apply for.
- You are in good academic standing (overall GPA of 2.0 or above).
Review the Computer Engineering Program Co-op Orientation materials | You will need to meet with the CPE Program Director before you can sign up for co-op. To help prepare you for your meeting, review the information provided on the following pages. It will give you a great overview of the Co-op process and help answer many of the questions you might have.
