CPE Student Mentoring Program
The CPE student mentoring is a peer to peer mentoring program within the Computer Engineering Program. Upper-division students are assigned to a group of incoming freshman students to serve as a mentor for fall and winter quarter. The mentors provide assistance and guidance to the mentees regarding the program and Cal Poly.
How do I get assigned to a Mentor?
As an incoming freshman CPE student, you will take CPE 100 which is an introductory course. The course covers a wide-range of material from broad concepts in computer engineering to campus resources. As part of this course, you are assigned to a student mentor in a group mentoring format. During winter quarter, you will have an opportunity to continue with the mentoring program if you choose.
How do I become a Mentor?
At the close of spring quarter, the CPE Office sends out an email to CPE students asking for volunteers. Interested mentors will receive follow up information in the summer regarding orientation/training and requirements. Student mentors are then placed on an alias and at the beginning of fall quarter and assigned mentees.
