CPE Semester Conversion Information

As you prepare for Fall Quarter registration, keep in mind the upcoming transition to semesters.

If you plan to graduate before Fall 2026, you can disregard this information.

Semester Conversion Overview

The first semester catalog (2026–2027) will be published in Fall 2025 and will include the finalized semester curriculum. In the meantime, you can begin planning using draft tools such as:

These are available on the Semester Conversion Planning Tools page.

Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor to design an individualized plan for 2025-2026 based on your unique circumstances and credit.

More support for Semester planning will be available next academic year.

Info and Advising Sessions

We know the transition may bring up questions. Rest assured, we’re here to support you every step of the way. More details will be shared as they become available. We have three (3) Quarter to Semester info and advising sessions planned over the next few weeks:

·         Wednesday, 5/14, 6:10-7:00pm, on ZOOM

·         Thursday, 5/29, 11:10am-12:00pm, Dexter Lawn, coinciding with Engineers Touch Grass. Stop by our table to ask questions!

·         Tuesday, 6/3, 11:10am-12:00pm, on ZOOM

Connect with a Quarter to Semester Advisor

We have four designated faculty advisors who can help you navigate your specific path through the conversion. Please consult one of them directly with your questions:

📌  Important: Don’t rely on the path a friend or classmate is taking—your academic situation may be different. Meet with an advisor to make sure you’re on track.

Office hours can be found here.

Catalog Options

You’ll have the option to stay on your current quarter-based catalog (2022–26) or switch to the new semester catalog. Here’s our current general guidance:

  • If you will be in semesters for one year or less: Stay on your quarter catalog
(Note: You’ll complete your degree using semester courses that fulfill quarter-based requirements.)

  • If you will be in semesters for more than a year: Consider switching to the semester catalog

Once the catalog is released, Engineering Student Services will be available to help you choose the path that best aligns with your academic goals.
